Guess who came to dinner?

Granted, it was scripted, but I so much prefer it when the gloves come off and people--especially these two people--can laugh at themselves.

This little exchange was better than all the debates put together.

"I can't shake that feeling that some people here are pulling for me," Mr. McCain said, turning to the far side of the stage. "I'm delighted to see you here tonight, Hillary."

"I was originally told the venue would be Yankee Stadium. Can somebody tell me what happened to the Greek columns that I requested?" Mr. Obama said. Later, he added: "I do love the Waldorf Astoria. I hear from the doorstep you can see all the way to the Russian Tea Room."

"No matter what differences or divisions or arguments we are having right now, we ultimately belong to something bigger and more lasting than political parties," Mr. Obama said. "We belong to a community, we share a country, we are all children of God. In this country there are millions of fellow citizens, our brothers and sisters, who need us very much - especially now."

Very nice. I loved "Barack is actually Swahili for That One."

I haven't kept up--I know that the Greek columns and Russian Tea Room are references to other incidents. Anybody care to explain or point me in that direction?

What ever are we to do in 18 days?

Sure Wendy--

The Greek columns reference the set for the Democratic convention. There were several outlets who panned them and it became a bit of a joke.

The Russian Tea Room pokes fun at Sarah Palin who counters inquiries into her foreign policy experience with comments like "I can see Russia from my front porch."

I've got an idea. Let's have co-presidents! It works well for PTAs and PTOs, why not Washington?

But does it have to be those two? Seriously. I can't stand either of them.

Me either. No one I know likes McCain. Several people I know LOVE Obama. But as for me and my house I'd like to toss the baby out with the bath water and get rid of every currently elected official (except maybe for Condoleezza Rice) and start from scratch.

How about Joe the Plumber?

I don't trust, like, or have faith in either one.
After watching that piece of video...I am certain I can't go 4 years with McCain's whistling s's. Wasn't there a cartoon woodchuck or beaver that whistled every time he spoke an 's'? That's all I could think about while listening to him.

Thanks, Dalene, for the exp. What an annoyingly flip response about foreign policy. Hmph.

It really is awful to have these two as candidates. I trust McCain a bit more than Obama, but I suspect it's only because I haven't listened to NPR anytime recently and I only seem to receive anti-Obama emails from family & friends. I'm not sure why he has become less annoying to listen to, but I'm with you and the s's, b.

I'm tired of all the "My Friends" and "I'm a Maverick" everytime McCain opens up his mouth.

Likewise I want to scream every time Obama makes more empty speeches full of key words like "Hope" and "Change" without ever expanding on what exactly his idea of hope and change is outside socialist ideals.

My husband laughs and says that one things for sure, with Obama you will DEFNITELY get change. More change than you ever wanted.

I agree with Justine. I can't believe that these are the two candidates. Neither one of them are savory characters and once again I'll be voting for the lesser of the two evils instead of someone I'm passionate about. Sucks.
